Doreen Remnant Cup Results

The Doreen Remnant Cup was a great success. Over forty players attended, with a few visitors from other clubs. The weather was kind, the grass courts fabulous and the company terrific. Cameron ran the computer using our usual format. There were six thirty-minute sets of self-handicapping doubles. The results, using the best of six sets, were close.

Many thanks to Brian Evans, who not only set up afternoon tea, ran the bar, presented the prizes but also spoke about the great contribution Doreen Remnant gave to the club. Her friendships, humour and warmth were well remembered on the day. Thanks also to Patrick Cuddihy for the sausage sizzle and help on the day.

Prizes awarded to the winners were possible thanks to a generous donation from Doreenís family. Also Trish Rechichi donated two handy fun packs courtesy of Lotteries West.

The event proved that Sunday tennis is still popular and possible. Another Sunday event is being considered for Sunday 17th January. As well, the Morrell Family Cup day is on the calendar for April 26. Both events are likely to use as a teams event in round robin format. You can start organising your team of at least 6 players, 3 ladies, 3 gents over a spread of experience and ability. You can have more players and allow some to rest.

Tennis is a remarkable sport, allowing people of all ages and ability to enjoy. Use your club, Mt Lawley, to get the best for you.
